Aims:

• To describe the implications of the anatomy around a tooth vs a dental implant
• To demonstrate the implications of periodontitis on dental implant treatment
• To illustrate a range of surgical treatments for peri implantitis

Outcomes:

• Apply the understanding of anatomy relevant to diagnosing peri implant disease
• Inform their patients of the relevant risks of dental implant treatment and periodontitis
• Appreciate the maintenance implication for dental implant treatment

Gareth Calvert Bio

Gareth Calvert is a Consultant and Specialist in Restorative Dentistry, and an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer.

His clinical practice is divided between the multidisciplinary oral rehabilitation of patients with hypodontia, including all aspect of surgical grafting and dental implant treatment, and single specialty interest of endodontics, particularly endodontic microsurgery and surgical repair of external cervical resorption.

Gareth delivers education in various formats in the UK and abroad but particularly enjoys the privilege of cadaveric courses.

Gareth has published widely on various clinically relevant topics but is most proud of publishing the most clinically relevant book on dental trauma with his good friend Aws.
